Unofficial visits during spring break

My spring break started off with
a slumber party of seven 5th graders...
waterfall fun, water balloon fun, "bigfoot" fun,
movie fun, camp fire fun, and more.
That's a whole lot of fun.

Then Kainah and I flew to the east side of the country to
go on a crazy fast unofficial college visit
road trip.
We missed our connecting flight, drove 2.5 hour to the first
college to go on the quickest tour ever (due to our time crunch).
After our visit, she got to spend some time alone with the team
while I enjoyed some delicious german grub and
a quick nap in the car.
We loved the area and how outdoor'sy it was.
The coaches were super awesome too.

Then we drove 3.5 hours through the night to get half way
to our next visit.
Our next visit was amazing as well.
We were super impressed by the strong Christian foundation
and all the great helps toward athletes.
We were very impressed as we drove off for our 2.5 hour
trip to our airport.

After a quick 4 hour sleep we jetted back home.
(Sidenote: I met an NFL player in the airport, Devin Taylor...
he was very tall and super chill)
In 72 hours I got right at 11.5 hours of sleep.
I was more tired then I can ever remember.
Visiting colleges is fun and exciting but
it is also exhausting because you have
a lot to take in.

I left feeling very uplifted and proud of my girl.
The coaches all spoke about her character as well as
her skill.

She is narrowing her scope.
To date she has been blessed with
5 full ride D1 offers...so blessed!
Her dream is coming true.

She was a my clumsy girl growing up.
She bloomed later in athletic because of her long body.
Because of this I think about how many other
"bigs" (that's what they call tall kids)
miss their dream school or just the opportunity to
play D1 because "Bigs" blossom later.
I wonder why a school would want someone that
peeked in 8th or 9th grade.
I also think NCAA should change the "Official Visits" year to
at least Junior year.
By Senior year all the competitive schools are done with that
graduating class..at least for volleyball.

Which means, the visits to see if they like the school
lay on the shoulders of the family.

Well, that is a snap shot of my spring break.
