Simply said, Rarely done
I was thinking the other day about a question someone asked me.
What did you do to raise such great kids?
Let me clarify something real quick before you jump to
assuming I think my kids are perfect....
They. Are. Not.
They are pretty amazing humans of which I'm very proud of
but nope, not perfect.
They struggle and fall, they have to resist temptation, like us all,
and sometimes they win at resisting and sometimes they don't.
BUT they have learned the key concept I speak of later in this post very well
and practices continually.
So they Win!

The answer to that question what I did is as simple as it gets
yet
RARELY done whole heartedly.
Want to know my great parenting secret?
****DRUM ROLL PLEASE****
Read the Bible, do what it says.
Thank you Pastor Robert Emmitt for that one liner:)
Yep, thats the short version of my book that I'm starting.
Obviously, there's more to it but truly that's the foundation of it all.
I got married YOUNG and had my first born a year later.
I was 19 yrs old folks!
We were young high school sweet-hearts and baby Christians.
I knew two things, divorce was not allowed in our vocabulary ever,
I mean not even to joke...
I mean not even to joke...
I'd had tooooo much of that growing up
and I was going to be the best stinkin momma I could be.
I knew the mom I didn't want to be and was ready for God
to make me into my best version of me.
I'm still working on me. I will always be working.
SO yeah, the Bible was and IS my foundation and then I had the amazing
Dr. Dobson.
Have you heard of this family/parenting genius?
Oh I read lots of books...so many books.
BUT here's the thing people----
Nothing just happens because you wish it would, you read a book about
how to handle things, go to a seminar on whatever you're trying to get better in...
IT DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN!
~Soak that in real good~
Parenting doesn't just happen.
Being your best self doesn't just happen.
Nothing.
You have to take action.
The very first thing I would tell you to do...and I mean
DO EVERYDAY is self-evaluate.
I know, it doesn't sound fancy or revolutionary
BUT
if you truly buy into this concept I guarantee you will be better at life in general.
Self-evaluation
is not hard and gets easier the more you do it.
You have to humble yourself
(this is the hard part)
because you have to be honest with yourself.
Truly embrace this.
Once you do, who you WERE will stop defining you.
Who you WERE will be what makes you who you ARE tomorrow.
How?
Evaluating what worked, what didn't, what you did or didn't do, and
then making the change if needed.
Out with the bad, in with the good!
Here's a gross side note:
We actually say the same thing to our kids if they puke
after a tough workout, lol;)
Come to terms with the fact that
WE ARE NOT PERFECT PEOPLE.
and guess what else, those around us aren't either.
Give them some grace.
If you've gotten to the end of this post here's
the MOST IMPORTANT thing,
it is the very thing that
TRUMPS EVRYTHING
It's what I call
"The Heart Issue"
More on that later....
On this sweet Valentine's day I urge you to take a look inside at your heart.
How is your ticker?
Have you spread love and positivity
or
have you talked about others and spread negative vibes?
Maybe it's time to start to bring more positivity in your life,
starting with you<3 i="">3>
