Well, it's been a few days since my last post. Yeah sorry about that!
I've been busy and riding a roller coaster. Not literally:) I am coming to an end of my school year and was feeling and knowing that this year was one of those years that was beyond busy for me. Beyond busy...other than school. When it is like that I feel like I haven't been able to give my all, my best, and give my kids the best they could get. That makes me sad. I have to keep in prayer because in prayer God reminds me that I'm here for a reason and He has His mighty hand over, under...well let just say He's got us covered. So, when Monday came along and my quite time didn't...:/ and I started working w/ my youngest ...who is a bit slow to the reading process...it was like every ounce of education that she had been given had been lost...ok not every ounce...BUT almost. I was so beat down by the end of the day...What am I going to do! I told my Love that I need help and more time with her. I need more people to read aloud to her..anything...I was grasping...I was desperate. God is merciful. He knows where to hit me to make me fall to my knees. Tuesday came along and it was a totally different story. WHAT! How does that work? It was a very up lifting day:) My youngest read well:), my 2 middle prepared for their end of the year test and was breezing through it, and my oldest was practicing for her college placement test and realized that she can write an essay w/600 words in 1.5 hrs (she was worried). So, as a teacher I rode a roller coaster this week...HA!It's only Wednesday:) My plans with school until summer camps...
Well, the big kids all have to finish their math books. Since I switched Language in January I can't expect them to finish that...but I will be pulling things out and hiding school into everyday life... That's all I really want them to do...is finish their math books. They will always have the other stuff...I will always have them read and write. Science will be ending in a few weeks....so it looks like things are closing up. My youngest will not get a summer break and I am hoping to start school up in July to start our new schedule....all year school. This will be an 8 week cycle with 2 weeks off after each cycle. We will have all holidays off and most of December and a longer break in the summer...like 6 weeks.
That's the kids....now the house.
This past weekend was a bit rough going. We had soccer games ALL day Sat. and then church that night. We worked on the house Sunday but then I had to take the kids to the field again for their soccer pictures...that was another 3 hours gone. My Sweet Love and the two younger kids crawled under the house Sunday morning to finish all the plumbing...that was fun for the kittke ones...not my Love:) We went to install the microwave and noticed that the cabinets were too low. At first my love thought maybe Gram's would like it lower....I said no...he knew he had to do it. He had to raise ALL the wall cabinets on that wall. I won't go into that story...lets say at one point the cabinets all came crashing down!!! Cabinets were fine...that was a relief. My Love was not. He wondered if he'd ever do something right. I thought...WHAT! Look at this beautiful place. But that wasn't the time. He wasn't a happy camper and to add fuel to the fire...3 minutes after the crash my son comes out and said, "Not to alarm you mom but it's 2:19." Hummmm....I needed to be at the field at 2:30 and it was 15 minutes away. I was in work cloths, no make up, and lookin' gross. I told my Love I could stay but in his temper he said no....just go do the pictures. I was fine with that b/c he needed some time to cool but I sure hated to leave him. I was gone for 3 hrs and came back to a much happier man. A man who apologized for his behavior. A man that got almost all the baseboards and door trim installed while I was gone..he ran out of wood:). Tomorrow he's off. He took off b/c I was planning on going on a mission trip but we're leaving Friday evening instead. That means we have a whole day to work on the house and maybe get it done or just about there.
What needs to be done:
Caulk trim/baseboards
install corner round on flooring (doorways)
hook up all sinks/toilet/water heater/dishwasher
run laundry wash out and dryer vent
install appliances
install shelving for closet and pantry
Well, that's all I can think of. It's close, huh? When I look at that I think really close. We're thinking about pouring concrete in front of the building soon...but I'm not sure if we have the $$ and if we do...will it be my yard $$$. Oh man, I really am missing a yard. I really, really want a yard soon.
Deep breath......
Where is the unwind in all this....surely if you've been reading my blog for a while now you can see the little joys in my life that I grab on to. Joy #1 Tuesday's school day! Hello-it was so much better then the day before:) and Joy #2 Our list of things to do on Gram's house is getting smaller and smaller. That means we will soon be able to have more time to do some fun things together!
