Halloween is a no go here
This might scare you to know but there are people in this world
that....
do not choose to participate in Halloween
OR
watch scary movies.
Just take a moment to let that settle.......
..............................
I usually get weird responses from people when I tell them we
choose to not participate in this dark holiday.
They immediately start to tell how they don't participate in the
"dark part" of the holiday and that their kids dress up in sweetness.
I've also had people try to convince me that I should participate because
Christians could really do good on this day in spreading the word.
I've had people try to make me feel bad because they think my kids
miss out on the candy.
I've heard it all.
I'm here to say that it is ok for me to not participate in something I
don't agree with, even though most people around me does.
It's not to make others feel like they are doing something wrong-
I cast no judgement at all but many cast judgement on me
because I choose to stick with my gut.
I don't like evil things...even if it's pretending to be evil.
I don't want this in my home or on my TV.
Being scared is nothing I want for me or my family.
It can be funny, I know.
It's not even about being scared though.
If my kids miss one event or party in the year because
of this...I don't think it will kill them.
My kids do get plenty of candy, unfortunately, lol.
I do not turn my light off and lock my doors...I am sweet and pass out sweets.
It's not a huge deal...so I ask people to just respect those that truly have a
legit reason for doing something.
What do I do regarding the school and their activities??
I try to not make a huge deal and if they don't feel
comfortable doing something regarding Halloween at school
then I respectfully ask for them to have different assignment.
I've had no troubles with this.
The kicker is being calm and cool.
Not letting things ruffle too many feathers because
I'm not here to push what anyone should or should not celebrate.
I think dressing up can be fun...so how about start a spring costume party:)
Ya know, for those few that don't do the "dress up" thing in October?
