MOMMY BOOT CAMP
First.
Those who KNOW me know that I have GREAT kids.
I'm not bragging, I'm just making a true statement:)
I fully believe that you can not be a lazy parent to raise great children.
Sometimes-
you'll find great kids rise above their situation.
Sometimes-
you'll find kids sink below a great family situation, this deeply saddens the family.
BUT
Todd and I are in this parenting thing together and want to do are best!
Do we make mistakes? YES!
Today I am not here to write about those:)
I wanted to tell you about a BIG consequence that I call....
MOMMY BOOT CAMP!
Now, I know at least a couple friends that are smiling because they know about
this fabulous camp.
It is hard to get into to this camp.
It is not a camp you want to be in or should shrive to be in.
Alas, sometimes kids...people in general need a swift kick in the rear to get
their eyes back in focus and so
Mommy Boot Camp was created.
It is everything you are probably imagining.
NO privileges. NO personal electronics.
NO fun outings with friends.
LOTS OF WORK-LOTS!
Not only is there lots of work but the work must be done with a happy
heart and holding of the tongue.
NO RIGHTS TO SPEAK YOUR MIND.
it was lost when you fell into the camp.
If a slip of the tongue to justify something to a sibling or whom ever happens
Even if it's not bad...pushups!
You heard me. It's not going to kill them...it will actually help them.
The camper must stay with me most of the time to get plenty of
wise instruction and be available to help out at a moments notice.
remember I said they have to work a lot.
Mommy Boot Camp is not the best place to be.
It is an extreme teaching camp.
So I haven't had to "open" the camp for a long while but
camp is open this week and in full swing.
I find it amazing how God's word is so true.
He tell us to be sure to discipline our children..if not they will be spoiled.
I am pretty strict on the kids but what a difference in the spirit of
this child of mine this week.
Kids are still learning...they need to continue to be taught and retaught
to keep the focus off them and on others.
Sometimes I think Satan puts blinders on us...NO...I'll call them
Mirrored glasses.
All you can see YOU!
No one else. Such a dangerous place to be in.
It's a lonely place.
Holding that tongue...even when you have every right to speak your mind
teaches you that sometimes....it isn't worth it...that it's not always about YOUR
JUSTIFICATION
and to let things go.
Let the Holy Spirit dwell within and clean those glasses so you can
see clearly the outside world.
That's all I have time for this morning.
UNWIND:
Proverbs 13:24
Whoever spares the rod hates their children,
but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
This doesn't mean you beat your kids every time they do something wrong
but it means you do something. It means if you LOVE your children that
you're not going to be a lazy parent.
