Wearing OUR faith

Living out my faith is important to me.
The way it's done is also important.
For me and my family, we wear our faith.
We wear it on our shoulders, place it as a crown on our heads.
We are proud of our Lord and firm in our faith.
We fail at times but we have merciful God.

When we moved to Texas, we were excited for the job opportunity and
the new adventure waiting for us in a new place we'd never lived.
I had no idea what God's plan was for us. I just knew He had a plan.
And so I trusted:)

Once coming to Texas I quickly saw why God placed us in every place.
Never before had I been able to minister to so many people.
I never thought I'd have a long discussion with an atheist and answer
her questions lovingly.
How awesome it was for God to use me and give me the right words.
To show her non judgement...She was raised that way and never knew
any other way...any other love.  No one in her whole life had ever
took the time to listen to her sincerely and explain to her God's love.
The moms at the park who came to me asking for parenting advice because
they saw how I handled my own, has given me an opportunity to
bring God in to our conversation.

It's really been amazing how much the Lord has used us here in Texas
as we live our normal everyday life.
Just last week a lady came up to me at football practice and ask if she can
sit next to me.  I asked her how she was that evening and she said that she was
trying to not think about the next few days because her child has to go to court
for something (I didn't ask details).
Then she turned to me.
She said, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure"
She said, "The other day your daughter Hannah was here, she is so sweet,
she had a Bible and was reading it."

-Shock, I know, a teenager reading her Bible-

She said, "I need a verse to get me through this tough time and thought you'd know one."
She went on to say that she hasn't been to church for a long time and
is now thinking she needs to start going...and other stuff.
I gave her some advice and some verses. I told her how reading daily in the
Word will give her great guidance and strength and to start with Proverbs.
She told me she has this verse that she has been looking at but
it doesn't mean anything to her.
She was frustrated because it keeps coming up and up to her
and yet doesn't really speak to her heart.
I told her that, a lot of times,
God gives us things not for us but for us to give to others.
I think that hit the nail on the head...Because the tears started to roll.
She said she had never thought of it that way.

On our way home I was telling Todd and Levi about what happened.
My sweet Levi said, "You know what mom, you might have saved that woman's life!"
:)
"Well, maybe buddy...maybe I helped her worked through something
maybe I planted a seed but I was here for what ever God needed of me and
that is what is important."

Later on that car ride home Levi told us about what he learned about
in Revelations that day.
He has always been gifted with expressive storytelling.
Explaining some of the chapters of Revelations for my son sounded just
like a movie.  He was excited and passionate!
I love that!

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15

This also means if there are people that are...not so nice
We choose to learn what we can and keep our distance.
The Bible talks about shaking the dust off your feet and walking on...
We do that to silliness - drama - ugliness.

Serving God is our purpose in life.  We can't let ourselves get caught up
in the drama and the ugliness.
Even in the sweetest "Christian" environments you'll find it.
No need but it's there.
I tell my kids to keep your head high and your nose clean.
Serve God not people.
Be a helping hand to those truly in need.
A listening ear to someone needing to talk.
A quiet presence with someone needing the company but no words spoken.
These things are meaningful.
Be a person FULL of meaning!

UNWIND:
Living out your faith and living a life full of meaning will change your
life and those around you.
Be a person to want to change others lives in a GOOD way.
NOT want to hurt people or talk bad about them.
because it will only look poorly on you.
If you are a Christian I challenge you to start
LIVING out your faith!
Speak your faith and close your mouth when negative things
might want to come in and invade.
