Amongst the weeds
Yesterday, as I was walking in my simple backyard
I looked out into a tangled mess of weeds and fallen trees.
Amongst the ugliness, amongst the mess,
in the middle of the dead and crumbling trees,
I saw a beautiful purple flower.
I saw a beautiful purple flower.
It was standing tall.
It was so brilliant and seemingly confident in it's beauty...in it's pureness.
I then looked out a little further to see a sea a blue flowers.
Yes, breathtaking but I still could not take my eyes off that tall, purple, lonely,
yet confident flower.
Even in the ugliness it rose up. Through all the mess of weeds.
I'm sure it struggled.
God gives us these times...these pictures in nature to think.
We can rise up and be beautiful people.
KIND people.
KIND people.
People who love and not hate...who build and not tear down.
People who DO what we say we will do!
~PEOPLE of our word~
As I thought of this I brought my daughter over and told her my thoughts.
She told me that just that morning as she stared out into
the woods as she was hunting with her dad...hoping to see something.
She found her eyes almost making images in the distance.
She wanted to see something so bad that she almost could,
even though nothing was there.
She told me that it made her think of how many times people
have this idea in their head of how they are or want to be.
They might have an image of how something happened
but reality is not what they have "made up" in their minds.
The reality is not really the person they truly are.
This is very true.
We as people must always check ourselves with Gods word first!
We must seek wise advice if we are in conflict.
*Trust in the Lord, and lean not on our own understanding
but in all our ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your path.
Proverbs 3:5-6
These words challenge us, as believers, to put more confidence in
God's ability than our own...placing our belief in
His wisdom, love, and strength.
C.S. Lewis wrote, " To trust Him means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way.
Why do I write this here?
Because I notice that we as people tend to lean on our own understanding.
We tend to think what we want to think and then
tell other exactly that.
Instead of checking with God or with wise council.
It's not enough to just feel~
We can be deceived by our feelings.
Many times we feel and react to ugliness or what we
thought "might" have been ugliness.
Maybe it's pride. Maybe it's something else but I encourage you
to step back, breathe, and really see the big picture
before you allow the weeds of ugliness
surround you.
UNWIND:
Proverbs 19 is a little justification dance for those who
might feel as if they have been lied about, mocked, basically throw
to the dogs and yet you have stood firm in GOD words.
For you who might have not been so nice, hop over there and see what's in store.
You might want to change your ways and make right...just saying.
God's words not mine:)
