The Character J

"Jimmy would do that!"
"No doubt he would."
This the response from my husband and my second oldest
after I told them a story.
A story I thought told of character and red flags.

Maybe you could tell me what you would do.

After a long fun day tubing on the river our group
starts the trek back to the car.
One out of our party chose not to wear shoes.
She now is rethinking this idea as her feet are burning but she smiles to
her 'boy'friend and tuffs it out until she hits the sticker patch.
OH NO!
She didn't realize until 40 feet in and she was stuck and in miserable pain.
The little ones in the party offer their flippers but it would ruin them
for her to wear them across this patch...so this momma said no.
Her mom offered to get the car but she would still need to get to the side walk.
I am watching in disbelief at her "friend".
I see a grave flaw.
To me it is simple, offer one or both of your own shoes
OR the easiest one
find a way to carry her.
He only offered to hold her hand.
Sorry sir, not the time for that!
I gave him time until I couldn't bare it any longer.
I told my sister to hold my tube...she was unable to carry due to poor ankles...
and I told my niece to hop on my back.
She worried she was too heavy, I said GET ON!
Away we went:)
I heard nothing from the guy like "here let me help you"
He said nothing...just kept walking.
I didn't need help but isn't that what a gentleman does.
I worry about my niece and who she's hangin' with I guess.

Soooo...when I tell my husband and daughter this story
the first thing they think of is what would the special
male person in our daughters life do?
NO question...the question didn't even come to thought.
The comment was just...
"Jimmy would do that."
Plain and simple.

SO, what would you do?

Character is important.

It's important to keep a watchful eye out for it.

I love that my kids choose Godly character rich people to surround
themselves with and when there are times when they can't find those
people....they don't lower their standards.

NOTE:
I'm not saying this guy is the worst guy in the world.
He seemed like an ok guy.  I saw a few things that I was concerned about
but
Nothing that I am at liberty to speak of at this point.

I just am making a point to point out character
or the lack of.

UNWIND:
Choose today to have and surround yourself with Godly character.
