Generational Blend

Rebekah - "Mom, PLEASE - PLEASE! can I go with Grandma and Pa to 'Old Folks'?"
Me - "Why do you want to go so bad?"
"They have yummy food, and they play games, and the people are really nice!"
"AND...."
Me - "ok, ok...go get dressed. You may go:)"
30 minutes later.....
Rebekah comes in - "Have you heard the great news? Levi's coming too!"

'Old Folks' is actually called "Aging Gracefully"
It's a great group for the older generation.  They meet up each week.
They eat, play games, and sometimes go out on a trip... maybe to the movies.

My Children Adore their Great Grandma!
They love all their Grand parents but Grams has been there for them from
before they were born...never a "dry spell", never a selfish moment...
ALWAYS there for those kids and they know it...and feel it!
She adores them also.
They have kept her SUPER busy ...and she loves it:)

We are so blessed to have them here.
Rebekah, my youngest, doesn't know life without Grams and Pa around.
She doesn't know life without being able to run over and hang with them or sing to
them whenever she wants.

My 8 year old begged to go to Old Folks with her Great Grandma this morning!
I think that is...kind of cool.
She could stay here and swim, or watch TV but hanging out with
some nice folks who are 6 or 7X's her age sounds like more fun to her this morning.

I love that my 16, 14, 11, and 8 year old kids feel as if their
78 year old Great Grandma is one of their best friends<3
To tell you the truth, she is a best friend to their dad and their momma too!

It is very important to me for my children to blend with the generations.
It's always been important!
I just recently learned about a whole ministry geared to just this passion, WOW!
As important as it is to me...I am very selective on WHO they blend with.
This is the toughest part of my job.
Spreading the word of God, Living in the world and not OF the world,
Shining His light,
Being a Beacon for Christ...
This is ALL important to me for my family to be a part of also.
Here's the tricky, sticky part...Meshing and blending with like minded
people is not as easy as it may seem.
This is tiresome to me~
I have found that I need to keep my eyes on God and if He shows me like
minded people to grab hold of them.
Sometimes....they don't grab back...and that's disheartening.
It may be that they are too busy in life to see you reaching...me reaching.
I just refocus on God and know He's got it:)

I think, without blending generations there is a void.
An empty place in your life.
I didn't have that when I was a kid.
I believe God designed all generation to blend together.
If you can't blend your own family for whatever reasons...
Death, distance, pain, or the fact that it is just not the blend you feel is healthy
for your family then I'm sure there are others within the church that would LOVE
fill that need for you.
I feel that it is good for kids and teen to have fun and enjoy hanging with their peers
BUT
not to forget time with multiage groups and the treasures
of gaining wisdom from our gray headed
sweet souls:)

LOVE YOU GRAMS!!!

UNWIND:
I really can't say much but this...Grandma lives a life that she can unwind.
She will humbly say "oh, no..." but she loves deeply,
cares about all, and takes times for people.
None of us are perfect but I'm so glad my kids get to be loved on
and get to love on such a 'close to perfect grandma' that I've ever known!

WHo said the young and old can't blend and BOTH have fun?
Take a look at these pictures and see for your self:)
