Not by Color but by Character
"I have a dream
that my four little children will one day
live in a nation
where they will not be judged by the color of their skin,
but by the content of their character."
– Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream Quote
I have that dream too.
I think that dream has come a long way.
I think some things might have taken the placed of "color" spot.
They last part...."..By the Content of their character." really sticks out to me.
Matthew 7:16 says~
You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act.
Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistle?
AND AGAIN....But LOUDER
"BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER"
Not by color.
Not by status.
Not by any outward appearance.
Not by how many years of education or how big of house.
Not by how tall or physically fit.
By the content of their Character.
As far as Character goes....
God has taken the "gray" area out for a time for me.
As wonderful as it is to see such beauty in Gods wonderful people,
It is painful to see the ugly part,
the content of character that you should stay away from.
It catches me off guard at first.
Almost funny until I realize it's real.
So many people get sold into a lie, a mask of sorts.
Don't they see the fruit? I wonder.
Do they see or care to ask about the destruction left behind?
Shocked, I am still, as ignorant souls hurt innocent bystanders.
~Innocent bystanders~
Don't we know our history?
Aren't we better when we lend a humble hand? A helping hand?
One of understanding. Love.
Not hate. Not selfishness.
And what happens if that hand is not grabbed?
What if that hand is used...and tore a bit?
What if someones lack of character hurt the hand giving help...
and has caused others to keep hurting...
caused others to think untruths...because
the lack of character doesn't care?
What if ?
You call on the Lord and those He has put in your life.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
You focus on the positive people God put in your life.
The everyday people and those that you hear from once and awhile.
You continue to gain strength and peace from His living word.
Psalm 29:11
The Lord gives His people Strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
And you find out that...
That this is a teaching point!
You are closer to Him!
I have another dream...
That one day, when I see my heavenly father and he looks me in the eye.
He will look at my life.
He will see the sins I had made.
He will see I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior:)
He will cover those sins with my Saviors blood!
Then....
When he looks at my character...
At my heart.
He will see my intentions.
He will see I did seek Him.
< My dream>
To hear, my father in heaven say these sweet precious words.
"Well done, good and faithful servant!"
I believe I will burst!
So, on this day, as the nation honors a great man
that stood for great intentions.
I too think of him...
I believe he would want us to focus on character.
UNWIND:
Knowing that you can focus on character.
I tell my kids that we all are the same color....RED.
God made everyones blood red.
Period.
Below are my working project:)
From oldest to youngest. I'm very proud of their character.
Hannah probably has more character then any human being I know>
She has her flaws and teenage moments but she is grounded in her character!
Kainah:)
She is fun and makes me smile.
She is sooo sweet and strong morally and at the moment is so tried of drama and
kids that cuss and choose poor choices that...even though it is lonely for her...
As her Auntie Debbie said once...There is beauty in Loneliness.
Sometime I know it can be hard as a teenager to stand firm
but she keeps her eyes towards heaven.
Levi :)
Being a young man in this world means a totally different thing then what
the Bible says. So, many try to sway him...My husband has said many times
that if Levi was him as a boy he would have been in many fights, lol.
For the record, Levi hasn't and doesn't.
Funny how God puts things in our lives through our lives to strengthen us for
GREAT WORKS!
Little miss Bekah.
You see she's saying WOW~
She's learning. I can't expect her to be as morally grounded as the olders...
Although sometimes, as I sit and thing now, I kind of do:\
She still has a few years to get up to speed but is a great girl.
Sweet as pie with a bit of sassy too.
